Working fire in Lindenhurst, 1-17-16

Here's a report from Jeff Rudolph:

On January 17, 2016, around 8 p.m., reports of a house fire began coming in to FoxCom dispatch from the 2800 block of Glenarye Drive in Lindenhurst. Fire crews from Lake Villa FPD arrived to find a large two-story home fully involved in flames. Firefighters immediately took a defensive position to protect the homes on either side of the structure. Additional units from Antioch, Gurnee, and Newport were called in for mutual aid. However, due to the challenging conditions—strong winds, extremely cold temperatures, and a fully developed fire upon arrival—the home was ultimately a total loss. The neighboring properties sustained minor damage.

Jeff Rudolph captured some powerful images from the scene, showing the harsh conditions firefighters faced. One photo shows a fire engine coated in ice, while another highlights a female firefighter also covered in frost. These images truly reflect the difficult environment during the response. The night-time setting added to the intensity of the event, with the fire burning brightly against the dark sky.

These photos offer a glimpse into the real challenges that first responders face during extreme weather conditions. It’s a reminder of the bravery and dedication of those who work to keep our communities safe, even when the odds are stacked against them.
