Wireless Bridge Mode Introduction

1: AccessPoint (pure AP mode)

Pure AP access point mode, supports 802.11b11MBps or 802.11b+22MBps wireless network card access 2: Wireless Client (bridge mode)

Bridging mode with any AP. Use SiteSurvey (signal search) to search out the SSID of the other AP or wireless router, and then click Connect to connect. That's it! (Working in this mode, the DWL-900AP+ will not transmit signals anymore. It will only receive wireless signals from other APs or wireless routers, and then turn the wireless signals into wired signals, just as if it were a LAN-less wireless network card. )

(Wireless bridge mode for satellite sharing, XBOXPS2 access to a wireless network, or when a driveless wireless network card is used for desktops)

3: WirelessBridge (AP to AP wireless bridge)

Supports two APs to perform wireless bridging mode to connect two different LANs. To set bridging mode, just fill in the AP's “Wireless Bridge” item with the MAC code of the other AP. This mode will not transmit wireless signals to other users. Wireless customers receive.

(For wireless communication between two buildings)

4: Multi-point Bridge

Supports more than two APs for wireless bridging. The AP in the center position selects the “Multiple Bridge” (multi-AP bridge). Then the other APs can integrate the MAC address of the AP in the center into their “Wireless Bridge” item.

(suitable for wireless communication between multiple buildings)

5: Repeater (universal wireless signal relay)

Support wireless signal relay between two APs to enhance the wireless distance, or relay other brands of wireless routers or APs, whether 11M22M54M108M can relay, have tested a lot of brands of wireless routing and AP, did not find incompatible. Simply set the AP to a Repeater (wireless signal relay) and then use the Wireless Client's SiteSurvey (signal search) to search for SSIDs of nearby APs or other wireless routers. Then copy the MAC of the other AP or wireless router to this AP. The RepeaterRemoteAPMAC column will work. As long as other APs or wireless routers are connected to broadband, they can receive the wireless signals and then send the weakened wireless signals back to amplifying them. This is suitable for wireless clients with relatively long distances for signal amplification, or for wireless bridging and then transmitting. The signal is received by the wireless network card.

(Note: The options in the Performance of both parties when relaying other wireless APs or routes should be the same. Among them, the PreambleType (lead frame mode) should be LongPreamble (long preamble frame), and the TXRates should be 1-2. 5.5-11 (Mbps) compatibility will be better)

There are generally 5 types: Line LAN Access Point, Point-to-Point Bridge, Point-to-Multipoint Bridge, Wireless LAN Client, Wireless Repeater Wireless Distribution System (WDS) Introduction:

WDS (Wireless Distribution System), a wireless distribution system, is a part of an 802.11 network that functions as a trunk bridge.

WDS transmits the data of the wired network through the wireless network as a relay architecture, so that the network data can be transmitted to another wireless network environment or another wired network. Because it forms a virtual network route through a wireless network, some people call this a wireless network bridging function. Strictly speaking, the wireless network bridging function usually refers to one-to-one, but the WDS architecture can achieve one-to-many, and the bridged object can be a wireless network card or a wired system. Therefore, WDS must have at least two APs with the same function. The maximum number depends on the vendor-designed architecture.

What is the Universal WDS (Universal WDS) mode?

It is an enhancement to the original WDS mode. It does not require the remote AP to have the WDS function, so it can be used on any wireless device. Also supports 802.11, access capabilities, encryption technology, service quality, and more.

General WDS application advantages:

If it is an ordinary WDS device, to achieve a remote wireless connection, both APs must have the WDS function. However, earlier wireless devices had only a single AP coverage function and did not have the WDS bridging function. In order to bridge the two APs, do we need to discard the previous equipment and buy two new ones? This is undoubtedly a waste of resources. Midea Wireless AP supports this universal WDS mode and solves the user's problems. In this way, the flexibility and convenience of the entire network structure are greatly improved, so that wireless network constructors can purchase as few wireless devices as possible and achieve various connection networking projects of the wireless local area network, thereby reducing the cost of networking.

How Universal WDS Works:

The common WDS mode works like the WDS and works at the MAC physical layer. The two devices must configure each other's MAC address. The WDS can be linked to multiple APs, but the peer MAC address must be configured correctly, and the two peer APs must be configured with the same channel (eg, channels 1, 6, 11) and the same SSID.

Wireless APs that support universal WDS technology have a hybrid wireless LAN operating mode that can support wireless access points (wireless APs or wireless routers) in point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and relay application modes while operating in two operating modes , namely: trunk bridging mode + AP mode.

Application Environment:

We need to choose different antennas for the different application environments of wireless antennas. When long-distance communication is required, some wireless AP antennas are located indoors and some are located outdoors. Therefore, indoor antennas or outdoor antennas suitable for different environments should be selected as required. antenna. It should be noted that the indoor antenna has not been waterproofed and protected against lightning. Therefore, the indoor antenna must not be used outdoors.

Coverage:

When a long-distance data transmission is needed, a large-gain antenna should be selected, and for a wireless network with a short transmission distance, a small-gain antenna can be selected or an antenna itself can be used.

In general, large gain antennas are suitable for long-distance transmission, while small gain antennas are suitable for applications requiring large coverage, such as network roaming.
