In March this year, a group of domestic oil mist lubrication systems for the first set of pump groups in Anqing Petrochemical Refinery's atmospheric and vacuum units completed six months of industrial testing. The system was officially evaluated by experts and received positive feedback. This innovative technology has not only significantly reduced equipment failure rates and lowered the physical workload for operators but also cut down on lubricant usage, offering a more reliable solution for continuous production. The project began in October last year when the refinery’s mobile sector provided strong support for the transformation of the pump lubrication system. They introduced an oil mist lubrication system that utilizes purified air from the unit to convert liquid lubricating oil into a fine mist, which is then injected directly into the pump bearings. This marked a shift from the previous "oil-immersed" manual lubrication method to a more efficient "forced" automated lubrication system. After successful trials on individual pumps, the system quickly gained popularity among operators. Encouraged by these results, the refinery expanded the application, gradually implementing the system across two sets of atmospheric and vacuum units. As a result, all 33 mechanical seal centrifugal pumps within these units now benefit from the improved lubrication process. With the implementation of the oil mist system, the average temperature inside the pump housings has dropped by 9°C, and lubricant consumption has been reduced by approximately one-third. According to the company, the system not only extends the service life of the equipment but also greatly simplifies maintenance procedures. Previously, changing the oil required disassembling the plug beneath the oil cup and having another person refill the oil from the top. Now, the process is streamlined—only one operator is needed to filter the oil and complete the refueling task efficiently.
