According to Detroit news reports, due to the European market debt crisis, weak demand in the Chinese market, Bridgestone Tire Corp. may continue to cut production in the second half of this year.

Bridgestone Tire said: "Since the demand in the European market is lower than expected, we have already reduced our production capacity in the second quarter of this year. If necessary, we will continue to reduce production in the third and fourth quarters of this year."

In addition, Bridgestone is also concerned that the status of the European market will spread to other markets. Last year, European market revenue accounted for 14% of Bridgestone’s total operating revenue, and Japan accounted for 23%.

Bridgestone expects its net profit this year to increase by 63% year-on-year to 168 billion yen.
