Chicago FD house fire 5-7-13

This is Dan Shevlin reporting live from the scene: Still & Box Alarm 5814 on Roscoe Street Time: Approximately 2:10 PM Engine 94 was first on scene and reported flames facing westbound. They deployed two lines immediately. Truck 53 took Sector 1. Engine 7 (the second arriving unit) secured a hydrant at the northwest corner of Newport and Menard Streets. They stretched a line and advanced towards the rear of the building through the alley. Engine 68 approached from the east on Roscoe and also deployed a line. Multiple calls came in about the gazebo in the backyard being on fire. The blaze spread rapidly, moving into the rear of the Chicago bungalow, up through the attic, and then spreading to the exposure on the western side. By the time I arrived, the fire was already under control. It was an intense situation, but thankfully no one was hurt. The photos attached were taken by me.
