Chicago Firefighter Walter Patmon Jr funeral (part 2)
June 20 10:49:34, 2025
Last week, I attended the funeral for Chicago firefighter Walter Patmon, Jr., who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. It was an incredibly somber day, filled with both grief and gratitude for his service to the community. The ceremony took place at the church, where the atmosphere was heavy with respect and sorrow.
Here are some photos from that day. The first image was taken inside the church by Tim Olk. You can see the solemn faces of those gathered, honoring their fallen brother.

Next, Larry Shapiro captured several powerful shots outside the church and later at the cemetery. This one shows the procession leaving the church.

And here’s another from the cemetery, capturing the respectful silence during the final goodbye.

There were more images taken throughout the day, like this one showing the heartfelt tributes paid to Walter.

For even more photos, you can check out [this link] and [this other link]. If you missed it, there have been previous posts about Walter's legacy [here], [here], [here], and [here].
I’ll share the full video of the ceremony once it becomes available. It’s important we remember not only the sacrifice he made but also the impact he had on those around him. Rest in peace, Firefighter Patmon. Your community won’t forget you.
