Hey everyone,
This is Drew Gresik chiming in with some updates from the recent box alarm we had at 73 Northgate Road in Riverside. When our teams arrived, the fire was already raging in the basement, sending thick plumes of smoke billowing out of the chimney. It was intense!
Command quickly got things moving by having Engine 1621 take the lead and push a hose line into the house to tackle the flames, while Truck 1629 took care of the roof for ventilation purposes. Within roughly 20 minutes, the fire was under control. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to snap any pictures showing actual flames, but there were some really cool shots of the smoke patterns as the crews prepared to enter the building. Attached here are some images of the structure and the various emergency vehicles involved.
By the way, you might notice something interesting in these photos—Forest View is currently borrowing the Darien-Woodridge reserve engine because both of their own rigs are out of commission due to water damage to their electrical systems following that massive flood we experienced a few weeks back. Also, LaGrange has repurposed their older Pierce model for Mutual Aid calls.
