Hey everyone,
This is Drew Gresik here, just wanted to share some quick updates from the Box Alarm incident at 73 Northgate Road in Riverside. When we arrived, there was already a fire going strong in the basement, with thick smoke billowing out of the chimney. Command quickly got Engine 1621 to take the lead and set up a line inside the house to get the fire under control. Meanwhile, Truck 1629 was on the roof handling ventilation.
It didn’t take too long—around 20 minutes—to knock down the fire. There aren’t any photos showing actual flames, but there are some really cool shots capturing the smoke patterns before crews went inside. I’ve attached a few photos of the scene, including some of the fire trucks and the structure itself.
Just a heads-up that Forest View is currently running with the Darien-Woodridge reserve engine since both of their rigs are out of commission due to water damage to their electrical systems from that massive flood a month or so back. Also, LaGrange has repurposed their old Pierce and is using it specifically for mutual aid calls.
Check out these images to see what it looked like:

The first one shows the structure post-fire, followed by some shots of the various fire trucks involved in the response. Let me know if you have any questions!
Take care,
Drew
