Phosphate mineral resources associated with the recovery of fluoride production of hydrogen fluoride

Fluosilicic acid, a by-product of phosphate fertilizer production, has traditionally been underutilized, with only limited applications in the manufacturing of around 10 products such as sodium fluorosilicate, cryolite, and aluminum fluoride. However, Guizhou Hongfu Company has made significant strides by introducing advanced foreign technology to extract anhydrous hydrogen fluoride from this by-product. The company is now building an industrial-scale facility capable of processing 20,000 tons of fluorosilicic acid annually to produce anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. Once operational, Hongfu will become the world's first enterprise to recover fluorine resources and produce high-grade fluorine chemicals from the phosphorus production process. This breakthrough opens new avenues for the full utilization of fluorosilicic acid within the phosphate industry. It not only enhances product value but also helps reduce reliance on China’s scarce fluorite reserves, transforming waste into valuable resources and expanding the range of fluorosilicic acid-based products. In addition, Yuntianhua International Chemical Co., Ltd.'s Furui subsidiary is actively researching more efficient methods for fluorine absorption and developing technologies to recover anhydrous fluorine generated during phosphate mining and production. These efforts aim to promote the comprehensive and sustainable use of fluorine resources, further supporting the development of a more efficient and environmentally friendly fluorine chemical industry.
