The memorandum highlights Honeywell’s commitment to offering eco-friendly products and solutions to help China transition toward cleaner energy sources.
Gao Dewei pointed out that diesel engines have long been a cornerstone of Europe's automotive market due to their fuel efficiency and lower emissions. In the European Union, over 50% of new passenger cars are diesel-powered, with countries like France, Italy, and Germany leading the way at 72%, 66%, and 43% respectively. In the U.S., the government offers tax rebates of up to $3,400 for diesel car buyers, giving them the same incentives as hybrid vehicles to encourage adoption.
Currently, diesel vehicles make up 23.7% of total car ownership in China, but only 0.2% of new car inventory. This gap presents a significant opportunity for companies like Honeywell. Last year, the company generated $510 million in sales in China, despite its global revenue reaching $28 billion. With China's growing focus on energy conservation and environmental protection, Honeywell sees great potential in the local market and is eager to introduce its "green diesel engine" technology as a solution to meet future demand.
The company believes that by promoting cleaner and more efficient diesel technologies, it can help China reduce emissions while supporting sustainable industrial growth.
