In January 2013, Continental announced that it plans to spend US$129 million to expand its tire factory in Illinois to meet the growing market demand.

In this investment project, approximately US$95 million of funds will be used to expand the production area of commercial vehicle tires at the Mount Vernon plant. After the expansion, the tire production capacity of the plant will reach 3 million pieces/year and 80 new ones will be created. New full-time jobs.

The remaining US$34 million will be used to upgrade the technology and equipment of the mixing tower and expand the warehouse of the plant. This part of the investment is expected to be completed in 2014 and will create 30 new full-time jobs.
