SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has officially launched the 2015 versions of AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac, two of the most popular CAD tools designed specifically for Apple users. These updates mark a major step forward in functionality and usability, making it easier than ever for both professionals and students to design and draft on their preferred platform without compromising on essential features.

The new releases allow seamless collaboration between Mac and Windows users, ensuring that teams can work together efficiently regardless of the operating system they use. This is especially important in environments where cross-platform compatibility is crucial for project success.

• Dynamic Blocks: Mac users can now create and edit Dynamic Blocks, a feature previously exclusive to Windows users. This allows them to insert a single block that can be resized, reconfigured, or reshaped instead of using multiple static blocks.
• Layer States: Users can now save and manage layer settings as Layer States, which include details like color, linetype, and whether a layer is turned off, frozen, or locked. Previously, Mac users couldn’t view these settings from Windows-based drawings.
• Data Linking: This feature lets users link Excel tables directly to their AutoCAD drawings, with automatic updates when data changes. It's particularly useful for managing large datasets such as material lists or fixture information.
• Quick Select: The Quick Select tool enables users to filter and select objects based on specific criteria, helping them find exactly what they need in their designs. It also includes a preview function so users can review selections before finalizing them.

Industry professionals have already started to take notice of the improvements. Graham Merritt, an intern architect at FRANCL Architecture, said, "AutoCAD for Mac 2015 is a game-changer. The number of new features is impressive, and it shows how much Autodesk is investing in the Mac platform."
