SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has just unveiled the 2015 versions of AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac, two of the most widely used CAD tools designed specifically for Apple users. These updates bring a host of new features that enhance productivity and collaboration across platforms.

The latest releases are aimed at making it easier for both professionals and students to design and draft on their preferred platform without losing any essential functions needed in daily workflows. The software also allows seamless sharing with Windows users, ensuring smooth teamwork regardless of the operating system being used.

"The 2015 versions of AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac represent one of the biggest upgrades in the product’s five-year history," said Amy Bunszel, vice president of AutoCAD products at Autodesk. "This update isn’t just about adding new features—it's about removing roadblocks that hinder effective collaboration during design projects."

Among the most notable improvements in this release are:

• Dynamic Blocks: Mac users can now create and edit dynamic blocks, a feature previously only available on Windows. This allows for greater flexibility by using a single block that can change shape, size, or configuration instead of multiple static blocks.
• Layer States: Users can now save their layer settings as Layer States, which include details like color, linetype, and whether a layer is turned off, frozen, or locked. Before this update, Mac users couldn’t view layer states embedded in drawings by Windows users.
• Data Linking: This new feature enables users to link Excel tables directly into their designs, with automatic updates whenever changes are made. It's especially useful for managing large data sets such as materials or fixtures.
• Quick Select: The Quick Select tool helps users quickly filter and select objects based on specific criteria. It also includes a preview function so users can see what they're about to select before finalizing the action.

Industry professionals have already started to take notice of the improvements. "AutoCAD for Mac 2015 is a major leap forward with a surprising number of powerful new features," said Graham Merritt, an intern architect at FRANCL Architecture. "We’re really excited about the direction this product is heading."

Kendra Swartz, a lead designer at Liederbach and Graham Architects, added, "With the latest version, I can finally move away from Windows and rely solely on AutoCAD LT for Mac for my drafting and design work."
