Tinley Park barn fire 4-3-12

Karl Klotz sent in this report: --- Around midnight on April 3rd, 2012, Tinley Park Fire Department responded to a call about a silo fire in the 7300 block of 191st Street in unincorporated Will County. Truck Company 204 arrived to find an abandoned barn fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to an adjacent silo. Engine Company 202 quickly deployed their deck gun to tackle the blaze while firefighters advanced three handlines to douse the remnants of the barn and a smaller shed nearby. Mutual aid was provided by Frankfort, Mokena, Country Club Hills, and Hazel Crest. [Photos courtesy of Karl Klotz] The first image shows Engine Company 202 leading the charge as they move up the driveway. The second captures the aftermath—only the charred remains of the barn and silo stand amidst the devastation. The third photo highlights Engine Company 202 using their deck gun to fight the fire head-on. In the final shot, a firefighter can be seen deploying a handline toward the back of the property. For more images, you can check out the full set on my website. --- I'm writing this right after hearing the news and seeing these photos. It’s always tough to see a structure like that go up in flames, especially when it’s in such a rural area where fires can spread quickly. I’m glad mutual aid was called in early—those extra resources probably made all the difference. Let’s hope no one got hurt during the operation. If anyone has more details or knows someone who was there, feel free to reach out!
