In the June 2008 strategic emerging industries and world top 500 matchmaking conference, SK Group and the Ningbo Petrochemical Economic and Technological Development Zone officially signed an ethylene propylene rubber project with a total project investment of approximately US$270 million. Construction started in September.

According to the plan, South Korea SK will establish an ethylene propylene rubber plant with a capacity of 50,000 tons/year in Ningbo. Ethylene-propylene rubber is a high-grade synthetic rubber with good resistance to oxidation, ozone and corrosion. It can be used as a raw material for automotive parts and used in oil pipes, seals and other places.

Previously, South Korea's SK already had a factory for the production of ethylene propylene rubber in China.
