Firegeezer.com reports that Oshkosh is shutting down its Medtec facilities in Pidgeon, Michigan, and Goshen, Indiana, and moving production to the Pierce facility in Bradenton, Florida. This move marks a significant shift for the company as it consolidates operations under one roof.
The Medtec Ambulance unit will be relocated and merged with Pierce Manufacturing in Bradenton, which is expected to add between 100 and 150 manufacturing and office jobs. As part of this transition, Oshkosh is set to receive up to $1.44 million in economic development incentives. The funding will come from the state of Florida ($1.07 million), Manatee County ($333,732), and Pinellas County ($40,000).
Oshkosh Specialty Vehicles, which currently operates plants in Harvey and Calumet City, Illinois, is also relocating its operations to Florida. The unit, known for producing high-tech mobile medical imaging vehicles and transportable trailers, will merge with Frontline’s Clearwater operation, a company that specializes in command and communications vehicles as well as broadcast units.
In a bid to attract talent, Oshkosh has committed to offering an average annual salary of at least $57,897 for the new positions in Clearwater — a figure that is 150% above the average wage in Pinellas County, which stands at $38,598.
Although the details haven't been officially posted on the Pierce or Oshkosh websites, the information was first reported by the St. Petersburg Times. Additionally, Brandenton.com has published an article that highlights further developments.
According to the report, Pierce Manufacturing is expected to begin hiring by March, addressing the urgent need for jobs in Manatee County, where unemployment is currently at 12.6%, with over 18,000 people unemployed. John Daggett, a spokesperson for Oshkosh Corp., confirmed that the consolidation will lead to layoffs across several Midwest locations as the company moves operations to Florida.
Specifically, Medtec Ambulances is planning to cut 45 employees at its Goshen, Indiana headquarters, 60 at its Goshen manufacturing plant, and 70 at its White Pigeon, Michigan facility. Meanwhile, Oshkosh Specialty Vehicles is set to lay off 80 workers from its Illinois facilities.
This move reflects a broader trend in the industry, where companies are reevaluating their operational strategies to better align with market demands and economic opportunities.
Silicone Dense Square Strip
Silicone dense square strips can be classified and introduced from the following aspects:
1〠Classified by material properties
Ordinary silicone dense square strip: made of conventional silicone material, it has a certain degree of hardness and elasticity, and has balanced properties such as temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. Hardness is usually selectable within a certain range, such as 40 degrees to 70 degrees.
High temperature resistant silicone compact square strip: After special formula treatment, it can maintain stable performance in high temperature environments for a long time, withstand temperatures up to 200 ℃ or even higher, and is suitable for sealing in high-temperature equipment, ovens and other fields.
Low temperature resistant silicone compact square strip: It will not harden or become brittle in low temperature environments, and can still maintain good elasticity and sealing performance. It can be used in low temperature environments of -40 ℃ and below, and is commonly used in refrigeration equipment, outdoor low-temperature devices, etc.
Chemical resistant silicone dense square strip: It has strong resistance to chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and organic solvents, and is suitable for use in corrosive environments such as the chemical industry.
2〠Classified by application field
In the field of electronic appliances, it is used for sealing, shock absorption, and insulation of electronic devices, such as computers, mobile phones, televisions, and other products. The sealing of the gaps in the outer shell can prevent dust and moisture from entering and protect the internal electronic components.
In the field of mechanical manufacturing, it plays a sealing and buffering role in mechanical equipment, such as sealing parts of engines, gearboxes, etc., reducing vibration and noise, and improving the stability of equipment operation.
In the field of architecture, as a sealing material for doors, windows, and curtain walls, it effectively blocks the transmission of wind, rain, noise, and heat, improving the energy-saving performance and comfort of buildings. It can also be used for sealing pipelines, water tanks, etc.
In the automotive field, it is used for sealing car doors, windows, engine compartments, trunk and other parts, reducing noise, preventing dust and rainwater from entering, and also playing a certain role in shock absorption.
Medical field: used for sealing medical equipment and devices, complying with hygiene and safety standards, ensuring a clean and safe medical environment.
3〠Classify by color
White silicone dense square strip: It has a clean and beautiful appearance and is commonly used in occasions with high appearance requirements, such as medical equipment, white goods, etc.
Black silicone dense square strip: It has good dirt resistance and concealment, suitable for some parts that do not require high color or need to be hidden.
Colored silicone dense square strip: Various colors can be customized according to customer needs for product identification, decoration, or special purposes.
4〠Classified by size specifications
Silicone dense square strips with different edge sizes: Products with different edge sizes can be provided according to specific sealing requirements to meet the sealing requirements of different equipment and structures.
Silicone dense square strips of different thicknesses: The choice of thickness depends on the size of the sealing gap and the requirements of the sealing pressure, and multiple thickness specifications are available for selection.
