Nanjing Iveco has experienced a significant boost in sales, with a 25% increase in the first quarter of this year. This growth comes after the company's strategic cooperation with South Africa, marking a new phase in its development. As China's second-largest manufacturer of light commercial vehicles, Nanjing Iveco is now expanding its influence and strengthening its market position.
At the Beijing International Auto Show, Nanjing Iveco showcased its latest model, the "Bodyy," emphasizing its commitment to environmental sustainability. The new vehicle, priced between RMB 200,000 and RMB 300,000, represents the first major product launch since Nanjing Iveco joined SAIC. It was well-received and positioned as a premium option in the market.
In 2007, Nanjing Iveco sold 24,900 units, securing the second spot in the light commercial vehicle segment, just behind Gold Cup. Moreover, it captured more than 50% of the high-end market, signaling a shift toward European-style premium models as a key growth driver in the industry.
Xiao Guopu, Vice President of SAIC, highlighted that Nanjing Iveco’s integration will enhance the company’s competitiveness in the commercial vehicle sector. He emphasized that the collaboration brings valuable expertise and innovation to the table.
Paul Monfilino, President of Iveco, stated that the partnership with Nanjing Iveco marks a new chapter in the cooperation between SAIC and Iveco in the domestic light commercial vehicle market. He noted that the collaboration with South Africa has strengthened Iveco’s presence in China, boosting confidence in its long-term strategy for the region. With improved profitability and market reach, Nanjing Iveco is set to play a vital role in shaping the future of commercial vehicles in China.
