Another ship, Huaying, faced extreme challenges during the summer heat, with temperatures reaching nearly 40°C. On the Changshun, the crew demonstrated remarkable determination when cleaning the cargo hold without access to self-suspended equipment. Braving heavy rain and working through the night, they used simple tools to lift remaining coal from the hold to the deck, completing the task just two hours before the ship arrived at port. This level of commitment ensures smooth loading and timely delivery.
The Dinghu Mountain Wheel also showed outstanding performance. After assembling a new crew, they quickly identified and corrected 130 defects within 14 days. During a security inspection, the ship passed with only 15 minor issues, earning praise from the inspection team for its appearance and crew discipline.
To protect the health of the crew during the hot summer months, China Shipping implemented several measures. These included improving food quality, adjusting work schedules to prevent overwork, and maintaining air-conditioning systems to provide a comfortable living environment. As a result, no crew members suffered from heatstroke, and energy levels remained high throughout the season.
Another example is the Invigorating 9, which worked around the clock to ensure the ship could dock on time. The engine crew, despite being exhausted from previous work, woke up early to fix a leaking cylinder and replace the piston ring, allowing the ship to berth as scheduled.
The Red Flag 124 crew also stood out during a ship repair period. They completed the repairs six and a half days ahead of schedule, despite limited facilities and no hot water. The crew worked late into the night, cooperating closely with factory staff and focusing on quality and efficiency.
Through refined management and strong support from shore teams, China Shipping Freight has ensured that its aging fleet continues to operate efficiently. Crews face challenges like high temperatures, fast turnaround times, and outdated equipment, yet they remain committed to safe navigation, maintenance, and cost control. These efforts have contributed to impressive results: over 50 million tons of cargo transported, a ship operating rate above 97%, and a stable safety record.
