Nanjing Iveco, China's second-largest light commercial vehicle manufacturer, has entered a new phase of growth following its collaboration with SAIC. In the first quarter of this year, the company reported a 25% year-on-year increase in sales, showing strong momentum in the competitive automotive market.
At the Beijing International Auto Show, Nanjing Iveco showcased its latest model, "Bodyy," emphasizing eco-friendly technology and innovation. This move highlights the company's commitment to sustainable development and aligns with global trends toward greener transportation solutions.
As the first new product launched by Nanjing Iveco after joining SAIC, the Bodyy is positioned in the premium segment, with prices ranging from RMB 200,000 to RMB 300,000. In 2007, Nanjing Iveco sold 24,900 units, ranking second only to Gold Cup in the light commercial vehicle sector and capturing over 50% of the high-end market share. This performance suggests that European-style high-end light commercial vehicles are becoming a key driver for future market growth.
Xiao Guopu, vice president of SAIC, stated that Nanjing Iveco’s integration will significantly enhance SAIC’s competitiveness in the commercial vehicle industry. He emphasized that the collaboration between SAIC and Iveco represents a strategic move to strengthen their presence in the domestic market.
Paul Monfilino, president of Iveco, expressed confidence in the partnership, noting that the cooperation with Nanjing Iveco has expanded Iveco’s platform in China. He highlighted that Nanjing Iveco’s profitability and strong market position reinforce Iveco’s long-term strategy in the Chinese market. This alliance not only strengthens their joint efforts but also signals a promising future for commercial vehicle development in China.
