Calumet City Fire Department apparatus history

Hey everyone, I recently came across some fascinating old photos of the Calumet City Fire Department thanks to Martin Nowak. He was kind enough to share these images, which were generously provided by Squad546 and a guy named L. Groszewski. These photos really take me back to a different era of firefighting. The first image is of the former Engine 305 from 1969, made by Mack before it got refurbished. There’s another one showing the same truck, but this time as a 1969/1984 Mack/Specialty combo. The next picture features the former Engine 303, which looks like it might be a Kenworth/E-One model from around 1985. Now here’s where things get even more interesting. L. Groszewski shared some additional snaps. One shows the former Snorkel 1 from way back in 1977. Another is of the former Engine 305 also taken in 1977. And finally, there’s an old ambulance from that same year. Check out the images below. They’re all Squad546 photos except for the last three, which are courtesy of L. Groszewski. It’s amazing to see how much things have changed in firefighting over the years, but these photos remind us of the rich history behind it all. [Insert images with captions] These photos are a real treasure trove for anyone interested in fire department history or classic vehicles. If you’ve got any stories or connections to these photos, feel free to drop a comment below. I’d love to hear from you! Take care, [Your Name]
