Autodesk Netfabb Joins Fusion 360 Family, Better Uniting Additive Manufacturing and Design

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news about how we’re enhancing the Netfabb experience for our users this year. By integrating Netfabb tools into the Autodesk Fusion 360 ecosystem, we’re expanding the capabilities available to our community. Existing Netfabb subscribers will continue enjoying their current tools while gaining access to the full suite of Fusion 360 functionalities. These enhancements cover everything from modeling and manufacturing to documentation and beyond. For many Netfabb subscribers, this means you’ll get Fusion 360’s Additive Build Extension and, in the near future, the Additive Simulation Extension—all at no extra cost. Additionally, Netfabb users will unlock access to Fusion 360 Team and HSMWorks, further enriching your toolkit. This move builds on our previous announcements around the unified Fusion 360 with PowerMill offerings. It ensures that Netfabb subscribers enjoy even more value without any increase in subscription fees. Every Netfabb user will now have access to Fusion 360, while Premium and Ultimate subscribers will also receive the Additive Build Extension for setting up metal additive manufacturing jobs. Ultimate subscribers will eventually gain the Additive Simulation Extension as well. Our commitment to future-proofing your design and manufacturing processes remains unwavering. We aim to empower Netfabb users to embrace innovative approaches and stay ahead of the competition. Extensions like the Additive Build Extension introduce powerful features such as metal powder bed fusion and intelligent support structure generation. The upcoming Additive Simulation Extension will allow users to simulate print outcomes, helping preemptively address potential issues. For those eager to explore more, you can find detailed information about recent and upcoming Fusion 360 extensions in our announcement at Autodesk University. Collaboration among designers, engineers, and fabricators has always been central to our mission at Autodesk. Through continuous improvements in connected workflows and automated processes, we strive to simplify the journey from concept to creation. Fusion 360 serves as a unified platform that streamlines these transitions using a single data model, eliminating delays caused by file conversions and ensuring precision throughout. The integration of advanced tools like the Generative Design Extension opens doors to experimentation and automation in design. Take, for instance, the generatively designed skateboard truck created specifically for Braille Skateboarding. From initial concept to final production, Fusion 360 played a pivotal role in preparing the model for printing. Similarly, the DMLS titanium skateboard truck showcases the incredible possibilities of additive manufacturing when combined with cutting-edge software. As Sualp Ozel, Senior Product Manager for additive technologies in Fusion 360, puts it, “Additive manufacturing represents one of the most transformative technologies in our field, offering advantages like accelerated product timelines and optimized designs. At Autodesk, we’re committed to removing barriers that hinder efficient design and manufacturing, creating seamless workflows within a cohesive toolset.” If you’re curious about Netfabb or want to dive deeper into what Fusion 360 offers, feel free to visit the respective pages for more insights. Please note that any references to future developments should not influence purchasing decisions; they merely outline our current plans based on existing knowledge. We’re excited about where this journey leads and look forward to seeing what you create next!
