80% of domestic auto transmissions rely on imports costing 100 billion yuan

Geely 6-speed automatic transmission gradually became "standard"

Currently equipped with Global Hawk GX7/GC7, Emgrand EC8 and British SC7 etc.

Recently, the 300,000 Geely emgrand cars were off the assembly line. At the same time, Geely's 6-speed manual transmission has been equipped with four models: the Global Hawk GX7/GC7, Emgrand EC8 and the British SC7. According to Chen Hongsheng, deputy general manager of Geely Auto's domestic marketing company, Geely will fully popularize 6AT for its 1.8L displacement models. Next to transmission upgrades, Geely will also launch 1.3T turbocharged engines next year.

Every year transmission needs to import 100 billion yuan

With the rapid growth of China's auto market, the automotive core components industry has become a bottleneck restricting the growth of China's own brands.

According to statistics, only one car transmission, China's annual import is about 100 billion yuan, and is still growing at an annual rate of more than 20%, China's auto transmission will be equipped with more than 50%, is expected to exceed 1,500 in 2015 100 million yuan.

However, statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that about 80% of domestic auto-passenger passenger vehicles are imported automatic transmissions, and the remaining 20% are mainly from foreign-funded joint ventures. Due to patents and technical blockades, proprietary brands can only develop 4AT or 5AT with patents already open and have poor fuel economy, and higher-end automatic transmission research and development and production have become short-boards for independent brands in the R&D of core components. Shortcomings.

Developing 8-speed automatic transmission

Chen Hongsheng, deputy general manager of Geely Auto's domestic sales company, revealed that: “The Geely 6AT is a real domestic gearbox, and in order to make better use of 300,000 units of annual production capacity, there are already other manufacturers and Geely signed a purchase agreement. In addition, the Geely 8-speed automatic transmission is also already under development.

In addition to transmission upgrades, Geely's several turbocharged engines will be put into production next year. The 1.3T turbocharged engine that has been independently developed will be put into production, and will be fully loaded on the Geely A-class model, and will also have A0-class vehicles. Comprehensive reserves, while 1.0T and 1.8T are also under development.

On March 27, 2009, Geely Automobile purchased DSI, the second largest automatic transmission company in the world, breaking the monopoly of foreign companies on 6AT technology. After more than three years of localization research and development and matching work, Geely has already set up factories in Xiangtan, Jining, and Chongqing to start large-scale production of DSI automatic transmissions and achieved various global Hawk GX7/GC7, Emgrand EC8 and British SC7 varieties. The model successfully matched the DSI6AT transmission.

New technology from Volvo

In addition to independent research and development on the engine and transmission, Geely will also "take" new technologies from Volvo. Geely Automobile announced on December 10 that it has signed three "Technical Cooperation Agreements" with Volvo, and that Geely will acquire technologies for future high-end brand vehicle platforms, interior air quality and safety. Through this agreement, Volvo will get Geely's experience in "developing local markets and cost control," thereby further reducing production costs.

Geely Automobile's November sales data showed that 51,282 units were sold in November, a year-on-year increase of 15% and a 5% increase from the previous month. Among them, Geely's first SUV Global Hawk GX7 reached 4650 units, which is the best month for sales since its launch. The sales of Emgrand, England, and Global Hawk are 16,947, 14,323 and 2,012 respectively.

In the first 11 months of this year, Geely sold a total of 423,829 vehicles, a 13% increase from the same period of last year, and completed 92% of the annual sales target of 460,000 units.
