Hey everyone,
This message is coming from Martin, and he wanted to share some updates about the Gary Fire Department with all of you. A big thanks goes out to Squad546 for letting him post these awesome photos. They’ve captured some great shots of Engine 7 and Truck 2, along with some interesting details about a new unit that's joining the fleet.
First up, Engine 7 now has a brand-new 2012 Sutphen Shield. It’s a powerful rig, but unfortunately, it won’t fit into the older fire stations. That’s why the other two similar units have been reassigned to Engines 13 and 5.
Next, we have Truck 2, which features a 2012 HME/Ahrens Fox 109-foot quint. These quints are versatile vehicles, combining the functions of both an aerial ladder and an engine. They’re definitely a game-changer for firefighting operations.
There’s also exciting news about another 78-foot quint that’s on its way. Initially, it’ll arrive in a black and red color scheme, but it’s expected to get repainted in the classic blue and red colors once it’s fully operational. At least, that’s what Martin has heard so far.
Attached, you’ll find two photos taken by Squad546. The first one shows Engine 7 looking sharp and ready for action. The second image captures Truck 2 in all its glory, parked neatly next to the station. Both photos highlight the impressive design and functionality of these vehicles.

Stay safe, everyone! And as always, let’s keep supporting our local firefighters who work tirelessly to protect us.
