On June 2, Changan's independently researched and developed H-series engines successfully ignited at the Chang'an Chongqing site, signifying that Changan's engine technology has completely reached the international advanced level.

It is understood that the H series is a 1.1-1.6L inline 4-cylinder, 16-valve, all-aluminum engine developed by Changan and is the latest achievement of independent research and development of Changan Automobile's integration of advanced international technologies. It has complete independent intellectual property rights. H-Series engines will be equipped with the main models of Changan's own-brand cars, which will be put into production in 2010 and will be able to meet the competition of the automotive market in the future from 2010 to 2025. According to Changan Automobile R&D personnel, this series of engines has outstanding advantages such as “high power, high torque, low emissions, and low fuel consumption”.

First, the H series engine uses intake and exhaust CVVT (variable valve timing) technology, which not only improves the smoothness of the power output, but also has the advantages of reducing fuel consumption and reducing emissions. At the same time, WG-TC (exhaust turbocharger with bypass valve) and gasoline direct injection (GDI) technologies are used. Aluminum alloy materials are used for the cylinder block, cylinder head, rocker arm, and piston to make the engine's heat dissipation better. Lighter weight, in order to achieve the effect of reducing fuel consumption.

For the first time, H-Series engines use plastic (variable) intake manifolds to reduce intake resistance, improve combustion at low engine speeds and high-speed operating conditions, and meet the needs of low-speed, high-torque, high-speed and high-power vehicles. Good acceleration performance and dynamic performance; and use of stainless steel and tight coupling structure of manifold and three-way catalyst, reduce exhaust resistance and shorten the catalyst light-off time, improve the engine's dynamic performance.

Thirdly, the H series engine adopts electronic throttle, changes the structure of the traditional cable throttle, controls it through the electronic control unit, realizes accurate throttle opening control, and obtains a reasonable flow of the mixture and fully burns. The emission performance of the engine and the carbon emission index meet the current international best standards.

Fourth, the core part of the H series engine - the cylinder body adopts high strength structural design and high precision die casting process. The unique water-jacket nose bridge area and bottom structure improve the heat transfer performance of the engine; the structure of the full-support main bearing block and the integral high-rigidity stiffener enhances the reliability and NVH quality of the complete machine; the hydraulic suspension adopts wide frequency reduction Vibration design, suitable for a variety of road conditions and conditions, to achieve the best level of vibration, noise and comfort.
