CFD B-Model Mack engine

This message is from Dennis McGuire, Jr. Here are some photos of a 1956 Mack B-Model that he recently discovered in Calumet City in March 2012. The truck is assigned to the Chicago Fire Department with Shop Number D-307 and Serial Number B95F-1042. This particular rig has an interesting history with the department: - Delivered on March 16, 1956 - Assigned to Engine 27 from June 8, 1956, until February 18, 1963 - Moved to Engine 25 from February 18, 1963, through December 19, 1969 - Then stationed at Engine 8 from January 1, 1970, to July 27, 1970 - Later relocated to Engine 92 from November 25, 1970, to July 12, 1973 - Then moved to Engine 76 from December 31, 1973, until February 5, 1976 - Finally assigned to Engine 56 from January 26, 1976, to January 13, 1977 Dennis took several pictures of the vehicle, capturing both the exterior and interior details. The images show the rusted but still impressive structure of this classic fire engine. Some of the photos highlight the officer’s side, the driver’s seat, and even the original Mack production plate. One photo shows the dashboard area, where two holes suggest the former presence of a D-plate. Another image displays the double front bumper with a bell bracket, a distinctive feature of older fire trucks. It's fascinating to see how these vehicles were used over the years, and it's great that Dennis was able to document and share them. This engine, now resting in Calumet City, serves as a reminder of the long and storied history of the Chicago Fire Department.
