Working fire in Buffalo Grove, 8-29-20

On Saturday, August 29, 2020, firefighters from Buffalo Grove swiftly responded to a fire that broke out on the third-floor balcony of a residential building at 1541 Johnson Drive. The blaze was discovered on the far edge of the balcony, away from the main structure of the building. Due to the potential for smoke spread and the need for thorough unit-by-unit searches in the 12-unit, three-story building, the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4, calling for additional emergency resources. Multiple fire departments and emergency units were dispatched to the scene, including Buffalo Grove’s Quint 25, Engine 26, Engine 27, Ambulance 26, Battalion 4, and chief officers. Additional support came from Long Grove Squad 55, Prospect Heights Engine 39, Wheeling Truck 24, Northbrook Tower 12, Deerfield-Bannockburn Engine 20, Arlington Heights Engine 4, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Battalion 51 and Squad 51, as well as ambulances from Barrington and Hoffman Estates. The incident highlighted the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies working together to ensure public safety. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire and conduct a full search of the building, ensuring no one was left behind. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. A photo of an E-ONE ladder truck at the scene was taken by Larry Shapiro, capturing the intensity of the response. A gallery of images from the event is also available, offering a visual record of the firefighters' efforts during the incident.
