The first domestically developed equipment for 250 mm diameter two-way cartridge valves, designed by CSIC Haiyue Company, has been successfully applied in the flushing backhaul control valve group project. Recently, the system passed user acceptance tests, marking a significant milestone in China's hydraulic control technology. This achievement builds upon the successful development of the hydraulic hoist system for the Three Gorges Permanent Ship Lock, the world’s largest ship lock, as part of the Three Gorges Project. The new flush return control valve group represents another successful application in the research and development of large and medium-sized electro-hydraulic control systems. The flushing backhaul control valve group utilizes a 250 mm diameter two-way cartridge valve, which is twice the size of the 125 mm valves used in the Three Gorges hydraulic hoist system. It controls oil pressure, flow, and direction through mechanical leverage. This system enables the forging hammer to perform both free-fall and vertical lifting motions, facilitating efficient forging operations. As a key component developed for Liaoyang Heavy Industry Group and installed in a 3,000-ton hydraulic block forging machine, this project features high technical standards, fast response times, and a high level of integration. Its development is rare among domestic manufacturers, as similar equipment was previously imported. The 704 Institute of Hydraulics has a long history in hydraulic technology. In the 1980s, it developed and produced China’s first two-way cartridge valve. Following its successful bid for the Three Gorges Permanent Ship Lock hydraulic hoist system, the system has been operating continuously for 1,865 days. In early 2007, Haiyue Company took on the task of localizing supporting equipment for Liaoyang Heavy Industry Group, further strengthening China’s capability in advanced hydraulic control systems. This project not only reduces reliance on foreign technology but also enhances the competitiveness of domestic manufacturing in heavy industry.
