The new fuel economy standard will be based on 2009. This standard does not apply to electric cars and hybrid cars, but Toyota's Prius will have to meet this standard because it produces a lot of hybrid cars, and reaching this standard should not be a problem.

The new fuel economy standard proposal will finalize the draft after listening to public comments and comments. It is expected that this proposal will be effective as early as next spring.
